How to Network Tip of the Week #77 - 12th March 2009

===========================================================

Welcome to the seventy seventh www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.

===========================================================

This e-mail is coming to you from sunny Mooloolaba beach
in Australia. The wedding went very well...we had a lovely
weather for the day and then the next day a cyclone hit
north Australia and we experienced some of it. Was
raining every day since.

It is a bit short again but to be honest, until I am
back in the UK I won't have an awful lot to say. When I
do get back there are going to be some big changes to
the site for the better.

Here are a few photos for the romantics amongst you:

Wedding Gift

For 24 hours only I am going to give anyone who wants to
upgrade to Gold level a complementary upgrade to Platinum
level access which means unlimited rack access, extra
exams each month as well as teleconferences (when I get
back to the UK in April).

Here are the full benefits:

If you want to bump up to Platinum for Silver prices just
drop me a line to help@howtonetwork.net saying 'Upgrade Me'
and I will do that.

Members Passing

Well done to Bhanu Sateesh who passed his CCNA:

I passed my CCNA on friday, 3/6 with a score of 930. Thank
you so much for your guidance and such a wonderful website
with tons of resources. The 60 day program really helped
me to make sure I have covered the entire syllabus for the
exam!! Thanks a lot!!

Well done to also to John Cicala who passed his CCENT.

Paul,
Here is the picture of me holding my Cicso CCENT
certificate. I passed the test on 2/11/09 with a score of
910. I have the 640-816 scheduled for next week and hoping
to pass that one. I think this one is going to be much
tougher then the first one. Thanks for all your help to me
studying to become Cisco Certified.

John Cicala

Well done guys.

CCNA in 60 Days

By my estimation, the 60 day programme has a 98% exam
success rate for the first attempt. Of course, many
people start out with all the good intentions but fall by
the wayside.

If you are up for a challenge and can commit 2 hours per
day for 60 days I give you a 98% exam pass guarantee. No
secrets, just work the plan and stay focused.

Rack Issues

There are a couple of gremlins on the rack at the moment
which we are investigating. One is the where you can
connect to the kit but the router output won't show and
will only work with the server reloading.

The other is accounts being deleted.

We are working on resolving those now so sorry for any
issues if you are affected.

===========================================================

Network+

I did the Net+ a few years ago. It was out of date even
then but there is now a new 2009 syllabus. The content I
feel is useful for novice network engineers and it is
worth reviewing the subjects, even if you don't take the
exam.

I am getting the content written at the moment. It should
be ready for the start of May.

What to Do If You Fail Your Exam

Almost everyone on the site passes first time. I do accept
that sometimes it takes a second crack at the exam in
order to pass. I had to take it twice in fact and I had
studied very hard indeed.

Here are a few tips if you are not successful the first
time round:
