How to Network Tip of the Week #83 - 23rd April 2009

===========================================================

Welcome to the eighty third www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.

===========================================================

Just got back from Boston. It was pouring down and very
cold so for once, the UK is actually a better place to be.

Some great stuff to share with you this week so please
read carefully.

===========================================================

Members Passing

Well done to Eric Leahy who passed his CCNA with a very
nice 972.

I have had zero proofs of passing sent to me since the
last $1000 challenge. You name will not go into the draw
without that. All the terms are on the joining page and in
the e-mail you are sent when you join in so please refer
to that (and don't e-mail me personally asking how you
qualify).

Would You Like to be a Cisco Trainer?

We have had a lot of interest in this so thanks to those
of you who have contacted us. The UK has sold out so
please don't ask us about running courses there.

We have been asked if this can be rolled out to other
Cities and countries. We will consider this on a case
by case basis but the training will probably take place
in the USA so you need to be able to come over there for
7 days. If you live outside the USA, Canada or Australia
but near a busy (non UK) city then let us know.

We have about 25 names so far and WE ARE LOOKING FOR 10
ONLY but you still have time to express interest as we are
still sifting through applicants and working out the
finer details.

Refer a Friend

If you like the site and want to recommend it to your
friends here is the best way.

Refer your friend. E-mail me their details and tell them
that when they join to e-mail me saying that it was you
who referred them. I will then bump you up to the next
level of membership so silver to gold then gold to
platinum but you carry on paying the basic level.

Once you get to platinum I will give you lifetime
membership no charge. Basically, refer 4 and you can be
on the site for nothing for the rest of your life saving
you infinity dollars.

Please ensure your friend e-mails me AND you do too so I
can match you both up. I can't apply this retrospectively
so they must e-mail me with your details as soon as they
join (not days or weeks later).

If you would prefer to be paid in rack time I will give
you 100 hours per referral.

Thanks

Paul

The Best Things In Life Are Tree.

Well I can't use the correct word as it gets filtered out
but it begins with an F not a T.

I want to say that I appreciate you being on this list
and taking the time out to listen to my ramblings. So
as a thank you please download this complementary CCNA
exam. It isn't big but these are the type of questions
you will get caught out on in the actual exam.

I hope you enjoy the exam:

Forum Question of the Week

Well dome to Maria who asked a good question about NAT on
the forum. You get another 10 hours.

===========================================================

Live Chat on Site

I am testing a live chat facility on the site for two
weeks. You can log in and chat with anyone else who is
logged in at the same time.

It is there to share ideas and questions. I have logged in
myself several times but nobody else has been there to
chat to.

If it is popular I will set in place a fully functional
version, if not I will pull it in a week.

101 CCNA Labs Book - Tester Wanted

If you are free to go through my brand new book '101 Labs
for the CCNA Exam' then please let me know. This book is
going to test you on every area you need to use for the
CCENT and CCNA exam.

By the end, you will be well past CCNA level. It is also
a good primer for those of you who have passed your CCNA
and want to prepare for your CCNP.

I want two members who can go through the labs over the
next 7 days. You must have access to your own rack of 4
routers and two 2950 switches or an account on the
live racks. I will give you electronic copy of the book
to use.

Please do not apply if you cannot 100% guarantee that
you can go through the entire book in 7 days and come
back to me with any errors or corrections. Over the
last year I have been let down by various people
saying they can help and then never replying again!

I will credit you with 100 rack hours to do the labs
and give you credit in the book as a tester.

What to Do If You Fail Your Exam

Almost everyone on the site passes first time. I do accept
that sometimes it takes a second crack at the exam in
order to pass. I had to take it twice in fact and I had
studied very hard indeed.

Here are a few tips if you are not successful the first
time round:
