How to Network Tip of the Week #85 - 7th May 2009
===========================================================
Welcome to the eighty fifth www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.
===========================================================
It has been a very busy week for me. I've finally launched
the products area of the site. We have some very tough
exams developed by our CCIE. There is an amazing 101 CCNA
labs book out very soon as well which will be absolutely
essential for your CCNA exam success.
I have personally gone through all 500 questions and I
feel proud to put them on the site. I wish there had
been something of this quality out there at an
affordable price when I was short of money and studying
for my CCNA.
Also, a new version of CCNA Simplified is due out next
month and I am going to be making it available as an
e-book for a trial period.
More news on the exams below.

I may well launch the challenge again in a few months as
this time round, there were far more people passing. I
can't wait to hand over 10 Benjamins to some hard working
person. I just love to meet winners!

Would You Like to be a Cisco Trainer?
Thanks for all the new applicants. We have heard from
OZ to Japan to NZ to Canada. It seems that a large
number of you want to run your own Cisco training
business on the side. Stuart and I are now busily putting
together the technical training notes, instructor notes
and the marketing training.
Please note that the UK has completely sold out so
don't fill the below form in if you want to run
courses there.
We now have about 45 names so far and WE ARE LOOKING FOR 10
ONLY but you still have time to express interest as we are
still sifting through applicants and working out the
finer details. Please see the discussion forum if you
want to help name the new business.
Please fill in the form below to express your interest.

Brand New CCNA Exams
With the help of a top CCIE, we have developed five very
tough CCNA level exams which are the first products for
sale on the products area of the site.
I have had the exams all tested by members of the site
(thanks for that guys) and the feedback was that the exams
were hard but a fantastic study tool. It really got you
thinking because there is a big mix of diagrams,
troubleshooting scenarios, advanced switching problems
and lots more. I have to say, they blow the exams I have
on the site already out of the water!
I think that, if you can crack them and get at least 95%
or higher every time you do them, you will be just about
ready to take the real thing.
There is a small charge for the exams to recoup the
development costs. I think you will find that they are
outstanding value for money when compared to certain
other companies selling Cisco practise exams. You can
either buy blocks of 100 questions or the whole 500.
One other thing. There is a non-members price, members
price and if you are a platinum member then there is no
charge! Just drop us an e-mail and we will send you all
five for nothing (beats paying $77).

p.s. Those who want to upgrade to platinum for these and
more goodies then drop me a line to help@howtonetwork.net
saying 'upgrade me.' It is $29.97 per month.

Memory Retention When Studying
Many people find it hard to get the knowledge to sink in
whilst studying. I was in the same boat when I was first
studying for my CCNA back in 2000. I had to keep reading
the same book over and over again. I felt that it was
never going to sink in.
One student posted asking for advice on the forum:

Here is what I learned.

CCNP - BSCI Update
The CCNP theory on IP fundamentals, EIGRP and ISIS is now
complete. We will be adding it starting next week. If you
have passed your CCNA we would love to hear what you think.
The CCNP Security and CCNA Security is going to follow. I
hope to have the voice done in a few months. The rack
topology is the hard thing with this.

Live Chat on Site
Is there any feedback on this please? I don't know of
anyone using it yet. I think it is very cool but it is
what you think which matters.

101 CCNA Labs Book - Testers Wanted
Thanks to the two testers who got themselves a copy of
the book which is going to sell for around $77. They are
about 45% more skilled than the average CCNA after
completing all 101 labs!
