How to Network Tip of the Week #89 - 4th June 2009
===========================================================
Welcome to the eighty ninth www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.
===========================================================
A glorious sunny day here in the UK...or at least outside
my window which is the main thing. I am finishing early
today and meeting a friend for lunch. Hard life I know.
By the way, don't miss out on the Cisco questions of the
day I am posting on Twitter. The answers appear the day
after along with more questions.

New Child Sponsored
Through membership fees and product sales we have all been
able to sponsor another World Vision child. Alex Mola is
10 and lives in Malawi.
More details here:

SMD Labs Added
I have added a basic SDM lab and a SDM NAT lab. Tomorrow
I will upload the ACL and DHCP labs. I know that they
are CCNA exam topics but as far as I know, they are not
tested in the actual exam (via simulator).
I would love to allow SDM on the racks but in order to do
that I need to permit usernames and passwords and every
time I do that somebody makes up an exotic password thus
locking the entire rack and requiring me to call out the
data centre engineer.
Stuart Juggins and I are working on a solution to this.
Here are the labs:

Feedback for the new 'Hard' exams has been excellent. I
think that if you can pass those before the real exam
you are in with a very good chance of getting through.

New Training Company Formed (and Competition Winner)
Thank you so much for all your suggestions for the name
of the new International Cisco training company I am
setting up with my business partner - Stuart Juggins.
Yesterday we formed Net Master Training Limited. The url
is www.net-masters.com but it isn't live yet.
The closest person to the actual name was Richard
Rosenzweig of Derry, NH who came up with 'Network Master
Trainers.' He wins free membership to the site for life.
Well done Richard (contact me for details).
Things will move fairly quickly now for those who have
expressed an interest in running their own Cisco training
weekends. The training provided to you will be a mix
of technical and a lot of marketing know how. We will show
you how to win lucrative corporate training contracts as
well as filling your own public courses.
Stuart (who owns Networks Inc. Ltd) just landed one for
$35,000 and he didn't even pick up the phone. They called
him! Aye Caramba.
With over 54 applicants and a handful of licenses
available there will be a few disappointed people but
we have to choose people who will take this and run with
it (with our help of course).
Up for a challenge? See the below info and link to express
interest.
===========================================================
Would You Like to be a Cisco Trainer?
THE BELOW OFFER IS ABOUT TO GO INTO SELECTION PROCESS SO
PLEASE READ OR YOU WILL MISS OUT.
Stuart and I are now preparing the training content as
well as looking at dates. We are still considering
applicants so please read on. You will be the first to
receive updates if you are on the list below. Once
again, filling in the form just means you are going to
get first refusal and does not commit you to anything.
Please note that THE UK HAS COMPLETELY SOLD OUT so don't
fill the below form in if you want to run courses there.
We now have about 55 names so far and WE ARE LOOKING FOR 10
ONLY but you still have time to express interest as we are
still sifting through applicants and working out the finer
details. Please see the discussion forum if you want to
help name the new business.
Please fill in the form below to express your interest.

Three New Seminars
In the current climate you need to protect yourself from
one of three things:
1. Threat of redundancy
2. Pay cuts
3. Outsourcing of your role
All three have happened to me but with the right plan
and training it will no longer be an issue.
1. Get into IT
2. Get started as an IT freelancer / contractor
3. Start your own IT business and sell it
This is going to be your only chance to benefit from
these seminars. Due to starting up another business in a
few weeks, travel plans and another book I will not be
able to run them again.

BSCI Theory Added
The BSCI IP foundations and ISIS is now up. EIGRP should
be up in a day or so followed by BGP and Redistribution.
We are still writing the IPv6 and Multicast.

Twitter Questions of the Day
We will be adding a couple of exam style questions every
day to our Twitter account. If you want to keep sharp then
please follow me on Twitter:

===========================================================
How is the OSPF Router ID Chosen?
A classic exam question? Somebody asked in the forum how
it happens. You must know this if you are wanting to
take your CCNA exam.

Members Forum
The members forum is the place to go for help, support,
advice or just to say hello. In the past few weeks it has
gotten very busy which is a good thing for all of us.
Please come over and post a question or answer or just
say 'hi.'
