How to Network Tip of the Week #95 - 16th July 2009

===========================================================

Welcome to the ninety fifth www.howtonetwork.net tip of

the week.

===========================================================

Welcome to another weekly tip.

The weekend marketing course on how to build a million

dollar company went really well. I had 10 very excited

people leave on Sunday afternoon.

It has taken about 3 days for me to recover my energy and

get back to work. We are editing the videos at the moment

and they will be ready in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I will finish off the 101 Labs for the

CCNA exam in the next week.

===========================================================

New CCNAs

It looks like many of you have been putting the hours in

because this week I have had several e-mails and seen

people on the forum posting that they have passed their

exams. Please take a moment to log in and congratulate

them because I know you will appreciate it when you pass.

James Wedgeworth had a lot to say but his comments are

very helpful:

Sat the ICND2 exam yesterday (passed ICND1 in May) and am

pleased to be among Howtonetwork.net's many success stories

at last!

When I joined in April I gained much confidence, motivation

(and envy to be honest) from the many testimonials posted

all over the site. "How am I EVER going to learn this stuff;

there is SO much!" I thought, but the many photos of past

members holding their CCNA certificates showed me it could

be done.

So thank you to Paul, for the resources and materials with

which to pass, but also for the pictures and stories that

played a significant role in those moments of doubt I know

all of us who pursue this certification experience. I hope

I can now repay the debt of gratitude and carry on

the tradition of success this site represents by adding yet

another success story to your testimonials. WAHOOOO!!!

Cheers from a grateful CCNA'

Great job James. I hope some people take the time to

congratulate you on the forum.

Well done to Jim Jason who passed with a 900. He is

cracking on with the CCNP already!

Congrats to Daniel Ottavi who passed with a nice 902.

Well done all of you.

How Much to Spend on Your CCNA Studies

Is money a bit tight for you? If money is an issue then I

can empathize because I have spent most of my life being

broke. I am doing okay now but all through my 20s and much

of my 30s I worried about money.

When I first studied for my CCNA you only needed to know

some theory so luckily I could just get away with buying a

book which had some practice exams on CD ROM inside it.

Now, when you come to study for your CCNA you are barraged

with choices.

Cisco Exam Braindumps

If you don't already know, a braindump site is where you

can get the actual exam questions and answers. I don't

usually mention them but I have been a little worried

lately when I see people mentioning the sites on the

forum. They usually say that they loved my site and also

used site X to help them pass.

The problem is that site X is a braindump. The issues with

this are:

Obsessing About the CCNA Exam

I see a lot of comments about the CCNA exam in the forum.

Many are bordering on obsessing about things which you can

do nothing about so why worry. Things such as:

1. Does the pre-exam questionnaire affect your score?

2. How are the multiple part questions scored?

3. Are the cameras in the testing room recording you?

4. What weight do the practicals have towards your final

score?

5. Can you use a calculator?

Trust me, you don't need the extra anxiety worrying about

things you can't change.

PaulBrowning.com is Live

I am actually more interested in personal development,

self esteem improvement and internet marketing than

anything else.

To this end I have launched www.paulbrowning.com which is

a site for anyone else interested in those things. I have

yet to add a bit more content including an interview I

did yesterday with one of the UKs top counselors who is

also a good friend of mine.

The site is not quite live to the public yet but I thought

you would want to be the first to see it.

In the meantime, anyone who joins the tip of the week

also gets a copy of my new e-book 'How to Get Anything You

Want in Life.'

Free Rack Hours

Thanks to Kris Greeley who asked a question about our all

time favorite subject - hex. Kris gets the extra 10 rack

hours for best forum question (please set your account up

Kris).

Cheers

Paul

===========================================================

Rack Issues

The rack is pretty stable at the moment but we have to

reboot it every week.

Please, Please, Please do not add any passwords to

any devices. They are blocked so if you work out some

sneaky way to add them please don't. Please don't change

the config registers either if you find a way.

Several customers lost rack slots and we had to call out

an engineer to recover a router on the weekend. I'm

afraid I will have to ban the culprit from the racks.

===========================================================

Site Suggestions

I can see people on the forum asking about should they

buy various exam sims or other study guides. If you think

the site is missing something then please drop me a line

and we can consider adding it.

The whole point of this site is to ensure you don't have

to waste money on other products.

cheers

Paul

CCNA Exam Tips

I presume you all want to pass the CCNA? I ask because I

posted some essential exam tips last week. Tips which I

consider essential and out of 4500 readers 42 read them.

I sometimes wonder what is going on. Anyway, for those

who are bothered, here they are again.
