How to Network Tip of the Week #68 – 8th January 2009
===========================================================
Welcome to the sixty-eighth www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.

Happy New Year
I hope you had a relaxing Christmas and fun new year
and I hope that if you made any New Years resolutions that
one of them was to pass your CCNA or other Cisco exam. It
is becoming an essential qualification nowadays as jobs
become more scarce and competition for jobs and contracts
is now fierce.

Members Passing
Some people were studying all over Xmas and it paid off
for them.
Jonathan Wilson joined the site on a Saturday and passed
his exam two days later (on New Years Eve)! Now that is
fast. Jonathan said:
‘Paul,
Thank you for making this site available! I passed
yesterday with an 871. I stumbled upon your site on
Saturday, signed up, watched video’s and read non-stop
till Monday morning, and passed! I had been reading and
practicing with Cisco material, but this made me feel much
more prepared.
Thanks again!’
Scott McAndrew passed his CCNA yesterday. Scott said:
‘I’m absolutely over the moon that I managed to achieve
953 in the exam today, has to be the best day of my life.
A big thank you Paul for all the help through this website,
definitely made the experience easier and if ever I get
the chance I will recommend it to anyone. The pass mark was
only 825 today, expected it to be 850. If I can give any of
my own advice to anyone it would be to pound and pound mock
exams (as well as all the rest), that was a major help
for me.’
Scott has kindly agreed to be interviewed for an upcoming
podcast so he can share all his study secrets with you.

One Thousand Dollar Challenge
The challenge has been running for a few weeks now and
there has only been just over 30 entrants. This either
means everyone who didn’t join doesn’t need an extra
$1000 or they don’t plan on taking the exam which is a
little confusing.
At the moment the money is going to Scott McAndrew as
the only entrant who has passed unless some more of you
get through this month.
There is still time to join and pass if you enter at
the below link:

Live Rack Update
The live rack is now open to the public so you can use
the kit without having to be a member.
Hopefully the rack lessons plus the content on the live
rack web site is pretty clear but I still have students
asking me why their account isn’t set up or why, if they
have signed up as a non member on the racks their account
has no credits.
I no longer answer these e-mails because I make it
painfully clear how to get set up on the sites. Please
take time to watch the videos and then fill in the
agreement and then your rack account will be set up.
The live rack is here:

New Cisco CCNA IOS Commands
For your CCNA and CCENT exams you are going to have to
have a good working knowledge of around 300 IOS commands.
To this end we have developed a new resource showing you
the commands and how to apply them to routers and switches.
I hope you enjoy it and if you think of any we could add
then please drop me a line:

CCNP Content
A lot of you are asking about the CCNP content. Most of the
labs are done and will be added over the next few days. The
theory will follow closely behind along with flash cards,
exams and much more.

Struggling With Your Studies?
If you are then I have written an article especially for
you:
