How to Network Tip of the Week #70 – 22nd January 2009
===========================================================
Welcome to the seventieth www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.
===========================================================
I have a lot to share with you today. Most of it Cisco
related but for the first time ever I am going to recommend
a couple of products which have nothing to do with IT but
which I feel will really benefit every person who uses
them…but first….the weather…
It is a lovely day today here in the UK. Torrential rain,
gale force winds and delays on many of the main road and
rail networks. I’m just glad I work from home now.
The thing that made it all possible was passing my Cisco
exams which in turn allowed me to start my own IT company
which in turn led me to working from home.
Speaking of passing Cisco exams…..

Members Passing
Well done to the Andrew Mason who passed his CCNA exam
this week. Andrew is in the $1000 challenge which gives him
a 1 in 4 chance of winning. I really admire people to take
on a challenge.
‘Hi Paul,
Please enter me in the draw for the £1000. Yesterday I
passed CCNA 640-802 with a score of just over 900. Your
site was great, especially during crunch revision time
when I quickly needed a simple explanation of something
that wasn’t sticking.
Thanks
Andrew Mason
CCNA’
I wonder when your name will appear here?

CCNP Content
You can now study for your CCNP on howtonetwork.net. We
have started with the BSCI (routing) exam which is the
hardest. Once you get that over with the others will seem
easy in comparison.
The theory is being finished at the moment. Once that is
done we will add exams, videos etc and then do the same
with the other CCNP modules. I may well add the CCNA
security next (before the CCNP switching etc).
It is still being built so many of the links are not live
yet but it was just too good not to share it with you
before the final version was ready. Remember that the
difference between CCNA and CCNP is about $300 per day
EXTRA. And don’t tell me there are no jobs out there
because that simply isn’t the case. Companies are
absolutely desperate for CCNA and CCNP engineers.
The discussion forum will be up in a couple of days.

Pass Your CCNA With Hypnosis!
No, this isn’t some cheap parlour trick. Your subconscious
mind has a massive effect on how you feel, what you do
and how you perform.
When you harness the power of your subconscious you will
retain information, feel massively confident and achieve
things you never thought possible.
To this end I have hired one of the UKs top hypnotherapists
to records a hypnotic induction aimed at making studying
and passing your Cisco exams a breeze. Three days after
posing it one student passed!
Just listen to it in bed every evening and don’t feel too
surprised at how effective it is.
The recording is in the download area of the site for
students:

Cool Products
In 70 newsletters I have never recommend another persons
products but I am going to make an exception here and
talk about two. Both released by close personal friends of
mine. There is nothing in it for me at all here apart from
helping a friend and sharing something I think is really
good with you.
As many of you know. My last job was as a police officer
and in the UK we have no firearms. Almost every night on
patrol I was fighting with violent crack heads and fending
off aggressive drunken men who didn’t want to be arrested.
It seems like another life now but during that time I
learned how to defend myself and was lucky enough to meet
and train with two of the UKs leading street fighting
experts. Both have started their own business and released
their own products which I consider to be world class.
The first is a Fear DVD by the UKs leading counsellor and
martial artist Tony Somers. Tony was a fire fighter in the
UK for many years and left to start his own company
teaching conflict resolution. He is also a self defence
expert.
We have all felt fear in life. Fear of exams, fear of
change or fear of other people. If you have ever felt fear
or still face fearful situations today I can’t recommend
this DVD highly enough. Tony has coached top performance
boxers, cage fighters and athletes to overcome their fears
and excel in their careers and lives.
Tony is also one of the hardest punchers I know. It is
like being kicked by a horse.

The next product is what I consider crucial if you have
ever been confronted by a violent person or think that
it may be a possibility at some point in your life.
Al Peasland is my training partner and has worked as a
door man in the UKs most violent city for several years.
He is also one of the most gentle men I know.
Als book is called Fence Concepts and teaches you how to
spot trouble before it happens and if you have to, how
to defend yourself quickly and effectively. Al only
teaches what works so there are no fancy moves or kicks,
just devastatingly effective and easy to learn
techniques which could save your life and that of your
loved ones.

Troubleshooting EIGRP
You are going to be hit with either a routing or a switch
troubleshooting problem in your CCNA exam and that is no
secret.
Here is a link to one of my older YouTube vids which is
still a great way for you to learn how to easily tackly
a routing issue. Keep your eyes open for the switching
video due out soon.
Please give me a review if you like it:
