How to Network Tip of the Week #71 – 29th January 2009
===========================================================
Welcome to the seventy first www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.
===========================================================
Who stole January? I only nipped out to Starbucks for a
cappuccino and when I got back January had almost gone!
My baby girl Grace is teething at the moment so is keeping
us up during the night. Got up at 7am today but still
managed to write an exam for you all. I am also busy
planning my holiday to Australia for all of March. I’m over
in Portsmouth, NH in April for a marketing course as well.
Hopefully, as a result of that I will be able to make
howtonetwork.net even better.

Members Passing
The $1000 dollar challenge has helped create another 6
CCNA engineers – all trained via www.howtonetwork.net.
Well done to:
Mike Perez who said:
‘Paul,
Passed!!! I’m a CCNA and excited. It’s been a journey.
The information and study structure you provide is
priceless. Today I officially got the Network Engineer
position at my company. CCNA in 60 days kept me motivated
and focused. Thanks for keeping me accountable.
Proud to part of the CCNA brethren.’
Great job Mike. Well done also to:
Pal Kvernvik
Scott McAndrew
Ashok Kolagatla
Andrew Mason
Ionut Oana
The draw for the winner of the challenge will take place
next week. I may be getting a flight out to Norway or the
USA to present them with their cheque.

Cisco IOS Challenge Exam
You are going to be drilled on your IOS commands in the
CCNA and CCENT exams. It is no good having a rough idea
of what they are and you won’t have a router command line
in front of you for many of the questions.
For this purpose I have created an IOS challenge exam for
you to try. You shouldn’t attempt the exam until you are
getting 100% in it.
I would ask a really big favour – can you please forward
the link to the exam to 3 friends who would benefit from
it. It is zipped up so all you need to do is unzip it and
click on the flash player exe icon.

New Content Coming
We are making some additions to the site to reflect the
new emphasis Cisco are giving the CCNA. The changes will
be added to the new version of my book ‘CCNA Simplified.’
If you have bought a copy don’t worry. Your updates will
be sent out to you.
We are adding:
More DHCP
More switching labs
More VLAN and trunking labs
Switch troubleshooting
Once the CCNP BSCI has been done, you will be able to
study for the CCNA Security exam via the site. This
includes hands on labs, videos, exams, flash cards and
lots more.
You can now study for your CCNP on howtonetwork.net. We
have started with the BSCI (routing) exam which is the
hardest. Once you get that over with the others will seem
easy in comparison.

CCNA Coaching
I have one seat left for the next coaching module. If you
want to pass your CCNA or CCENT in the next 4-5 weeks and
want expert support and help (from me) then please visit
the below page now:

Troubleshooting EIGRP
You are going to be hit with either a routing or a switch
troubleshooting problem in your CCNA exam and that is no
secret.
Here is a link to one of my older YouTube vids which is
still a great way for you to learn how to easily tackle
a routing issue. Keep your eyes open for the switching
video due out soon.
Please give me a review if you like it:
