How to Network Tip of the Week #76 – 5th March 2009
===========================================================
Welcome to the seventy sixth www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.
===========================================================
This e-mail is coming to you from sunny Mooloolaba beach
in Australia. I’m getting married on the beach tomorrow
and then off to a nice restaurant with my new wife, baby
girl and new mother and father in law.
This week the TOTW is very sort so forgive me.

Member Passing
Well done to John Ssekibaamu who has passed his CCNA.
It took him two attempts but he got there in the end. Well
done John, I know you worked very hard.
===========================================================
Is the CCNA Enough?
Stuart Juggins has written an interesting article about
the value of the CCNA. Now, more than ever you will need it
if you are serious about your career in networking. It is
though, just a start.

Getting the Best From HowtoNetwork.net
Did you know that howtonetwork.net is run just by me? I
have a remote team who answer the phone and pass me
messages but apart from that I do everything at the moment.
If I can share a few things with you which will help us
both get the best from the site and prevent any issues
from arising.
Read more here.

Network+
I did the Net+ a few years ago. It was out of date even
then but there is now a new 2009 syllabus. The content I
feel is useful for novice network engineers and it is
worth reviewing the subjects, even if you don’t take the
exam.
I am getting the content written at the moment. It should
be ready for the start of May.

What to Do If You Fail Your Exam
Almost everyone on the site passes first time. I do accept
that sometimes it takes a second crack at the exam in
order to pass. I had to take it twice in fact and I had
studied very hard indeed.
Here are a few tips if you are not successful the first
time round:

Prizes for Best Forum Question
Simon Young posted a question about NAT and wildcard
masks this week. He spotted a mistake in fact so 10
hours extra rack time goes to him.
