How to Network Tip of the Week #96 – 23rd July 2009
===========================================================
Welcome to the ninety sixth www.howtonetwork.net tip of
the week.
===========================================================
Welcome to another weekly tip.
I was lucky enough to interview an expert on fear last
week. Tony Somers runs fear busing courses for corporates
and martial arts clubs. As we all experience fear at exam
time you might want to check the video out.
I have also posted a video of me sparring with my boxing
trainer. Hopefully you can join the paulbrowning.com tip
of the week and get more cool tips:

New CCNAs
This has been a record month for members passing their
exams.
Well done to Stuart Myatt who passed his CCNA on his
second attempt. Nerves got the better of him first time#
round but he bounced right back and passed this week.
Hats off to Josh Kumar who bagged his CCNA with a very
nice 93%
Well done to both of you.

What to do After Your CCNA
So when you pass and have your shiny certificate hanging
on your wall what next?
More exams? Go for jobs? Have a rest?
Here is what I think:

Cisco Exam Braindumps
If you don’t already know, a braindump site is where you
can get the actual exam questions and answers. I don’t
usually mention them but I have been a little worried
lately when I see people mentioning the sites on the
forum. They usually say that they loved my site and also
used site X to help them pass.
The problem is that site X is a braindump. The issues with
this are:

New CCNP BSCI Labs
We have reviewed the current BSCI labs and want to make
some improvements. After speaking to Farai..our dual CCIE
he felt that they needed improving on.
To this end, next week we will be upgrading some, removing
some and adding another 15 or so. Please keep a look out
on the BSCI labs page for those.
Once they are all up we will be filming the videos.
===========================================================
CCNA Security Coming..
The labs for the CCNA security are being written as you
read this. There will be 20 labs plus 3 challenge labs for
you to configure.
Even if you don’t plan on taking the exam, these skills
will be a crucial part of your tool bag of abilities.
There will be no extra charge for all this content…just
the standard monthly membership fees.
===========================================================
101 Labs for the CCNA
I have filmed 50 of the labs and our CCIE Stuart Juggins
is filming the other 50 next week. I am hoping that it will
all be ready to roll in 2 weeks time.
The pack will be available as a book and CD set. I may
well post it to a special platinum members only section on
the site as well for viewing online.
===========================================================
Free Rack Hours
Thanks to John Doucette who asked a question about the
‘vlan database’ command. This is an old command and I
really don’t think you will need to know that for the CCNA
exam.
10 rack hours go to Johns account.
===========================================================
Rack Comments
The password command is blocked. The config-register
command is blocked. Same for username.
You can change encapsulation to PPP or frame relay with
the encapsulation command.

Cisco Weekday Course
Our sister company – Networks Inc. Ltd are now offering
a weekday CCNA boot camp. You can give Stuart Juggins a
call and mention howtonetwork.net to get any discounts:

There are courses all over the UK.
