How to Network Tip of the Week #36th – 8th May 2008
============================================================
Welcome to the thirty-sixth www.howtonetwork.net tip of the
week.

Brief Tip of the Week
I’m still in Australia. Just flown back to Brisbane from
Melbourne. I can’t believe the difference in climates. I
know which one I prefer!
The TOTW will be back to normal next week. This week it is
just a summary of things I feel you need to know in your
quest to pass your CCNA and have a successful career as
a Cisco engineer.

Welcome New Members
I have seen members joining in their droves. I haven’t
had a chance to welcome you personally but I do appreciate
you joining the site.
Please say hello on the forums and post any questions or
send feedback.
We are all here to help you enjoy your CCNA studies and
do something useful with the qualification.

ISDN and the CCNA
I was asked in the discussion forum why ISDN is still on
the site if it isn’t in the CCNA exam anymore.
A couple of reasons why ISDN and some other subjects have
been left on the site.
First. You may be tested on it if you are taking the old
CCNA 640-801 which you can take if you are part of the
Cisco Academy (or so I am told).
Second. I like to add extra topics and areas which although
are not tested in the exam I think you may come across at
some point or at least may need to know about.
My old driving instructor once explained to me that he
was not teaching me how to pass my driving test but how
to be a good driver.

A Day in the Life of a CCNA
Have you ever wondered what a CCNA engineer gets up to
during a typical day at work? Well you need no longer
wonder because we have asked Daniel, a newly qualified
CCNA from this site to tell us what he gets up to.

CCNA Required in Milton Keynes
A former student of mine is looking for a CCNA to join
their networking team. It is a Milton Keynes based company
so you need to live nearby or be prepared to move.
You need to be a current CCNA. Please speak to Richard
directly because I cannot answer any questions about the
role.

Cisco Release New Foundation Exams
It is all very hush hush at the moment but in the next few
weeks Cisco will be releasing the first of several new
foundation exams. Some providers are already offering the
first of the new exams called the IINS – Implementing Cisco
IOS Network Security.

Are You Ready for the CCNA Exam?
It can be a very dejecting experience to fail the CCNA exam.
Especially if you feel you have put in a lot of study time
and have given it your best shot.
With a strict study schedule involving daily labs, theory
and practise exams then you are giving yourself the best
chance possible. The only reason we fail is the exam is
due to lack of preparation.
The below CCNA prep test will ask you if you have covered
all the necessary areas listed on Ciscos CCNA exam syllabus.
You would need to be able to answer ‘correct’ to each
question in order to be ready for the exam. Bear in mind
that the CCNA has about a 50% pass rate so it is still
considered to be a tough exam by all in the IT industry.
